My name is Robin Urquhart and like many others, my interest in photography started as a hobby. I purchased my first DSLR back in 2014. Armed with only my crop sensor and kit lens, I started learning about photography. I took my camera everywhere to gain some hands on experience, from family events, birthdays, concerts, or just hiking in the northwoods. I loved the flexibility of my DSLR and having the ability to manually control the camera. Being in control of things like aperture and shutter speed allowed me to control what my images looked like. Most people use their smartphone for pictures, but I truly believe people don’t know what they’re missing out on by using only a smartphone camera.
I’m an IT professional by day, and it wasn’t until the last several years that I became more serious in my photography. I was finally able to upgrade to a full frame camera took it on my honeymoon. Bringing very expensive camera gear through airport security and TSA checks was about as nerve racking as it sounds, but totally worth it! The pictures below are just a few of the images I got in three of the cities we visited. It was a trip I will surely not forget and I’m proud of the images I was able to create. I realized recently that I enjoy taking photos just as much, if not more, than the event I’ve gone to. My passion comes from trying to capture those special moments that you’ll never forget. When the it’s all said and done and you return back home, your pictures are what you have to look back on. When I do travel I don’t buy t-shirts, key chains, or souvenirs, my pictures are my souvenirs!
